Finding beauty in the cold. I bundled up and took my camera out for a walk but the fresh window frost seemed to hold the most intrigue. It is lovely too, along the river’s edge where the water moves so fast that the cold can’t hold it still. It seems like a good time to make soup!

After the (Freezing) Rain

Tiny icicles on the brink of melting away.

Mosaic patterns forming on the flora as the ice crowns begin to surrender to the warmth of the sun.
glazedflora7How quickly we can shift here from powdered snow, to rain, to freezing rain and back again.

Birds Falling like Leaves off Trees

The first real snow came yesterday and in late afternoon a large flock of starlings were braving the wet snow and wind, grazing the tops of trees and  falling like leaves from branches.

(I hope the GIF isn’t too annoying, it would be nice to be able to click on it and make it stop! Oh well…)
