The first photo has a sort of electric feel to it…and the last could be the plates of the earth moving and shifting and forming mountain ranges and…. Very nice.
Wow.. I love these…I can feel what must be the absolute relief of the ice starting to crack, and the water starting to flow again..love these shapes and patterns you’ve found too..stunning..
Nice images. Similar leftover will be for you, if you don’t find a courage to get closer to the fishing man. I really would like to see it by your point of view. Please, be brave 🙂
You should make a book…. really beautiful work, on both this post and the one after (in the land of the sack people…). It would be nice to have your pictures together and thumb through them in one sitting….
Wonderful post Karen – these have such an interpretative quality to them. Other worldliness, to lily pads (as someone mentioned earlier), to the last mosaic-like piece. So interesting – I could dwell on these for a while. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks Scott, I like what you see in these.
Karen, I love the polygons in the last image – those show up in so many places in nature. It looks like “tough skating” season there!
I has been a freeze/thaw season, so yes difficult for skating. =)
I’m always fascinated with how nature repeats itself so beautifully, thanks Graham.
Wonderful compositions, Karen. Really striking, beautiful images.
Thank you Lemony, much appreciated.
Strangely, they are pretty meditative.
—– I wonder, is it your mind —– or the mind of the nature ?
Oh, wow– those branches– black against the light, but light against the dark. How did that happen?! I read it as almost abstract.
It looks like frozen lillypads. 🙂
from a distance photo 1 resembles photo 4. Could be cracks instead of branches.
Beautiful. Just beautiful.
Simple tastes for me. I like nice photographs. Every one of these makes the grade, Thank you!
Beautiful Karen, thanks for sharing! Definite climate change to what I’m feeling here in Oz at the moment, thanks for cooling me off!
Amazing photos, Karen! First one is too good. 🙂

Impressive patterns and composition. Gorgeous as usual:)
Wonderful photos. Your second and third photos make me think of ice lilypads.

Another fine set of photographs, Karen! Surely you have enough to set up a major exhibition by now?
Cheers
John
Wonderful textures.
GREAT, as always.
Wonderful photos especially the last. Love the shapes, colour and texture.
It’s impossible to choose a favorite. They are each stunning in their own way. And the comments from the others are so great, my feelings exactly.
With the ice melting, I know we will be treated to amazing photos as your corner of the world begins rebirth. 😀
Reminds me of Lake Chambon in France, we walked around the frozen edge listening to the groaning ice echo of the mountains. Brilliant pictures.

Is it ice? Mirrors? Smoke and mirrors? What the hell is going on? lol:) … Lilypads? Enigmatic. Wonderful.
Fangasmic.

Great shots, Karen! They actually scare me a little. Thin ice and all that. 🙂
Middle image is epic!
Lovely! Spescially the first Picture.
