An old and graceful Weeping Willow in the snowfall.
I came across this winter garden when I was out working on an architectural project. Different shapes and forms against a snow canvas. Even grey-furred pussy willows, an early sign of spring!

I just loved that first photo … amazing 🙂
the others are as good as that first… but that one really caught me 🙂
Well trees are pretty beautiful, I love them too. Thanks Felipe!
Filipe has expressed my feelings exactly.
Thank you Louis.
As dramatically gorgeous as the willow is, for me, your macro subjects dance.
That’s nice to hear Elena, I’m hoping people aren’t bored with them yet. 😀
Thank you!
Your pictures really bring out the beauty of winter. It makes me miss the snow that never fell in Toronto this year.
Thanks Janet, I guess when you do get snow it doesn’t stick around for very long. It has been an unusual winter here hasn’t it?
These are just beautiful! Snow shots are always awesome!
Thank you, yes I think I will miss the snow when it’s gone, but I do love summer too! 🙂
Beautiful tree in the snow. 🙂 I loved the second photo, great DoF.
Thank you Nandini. 🙂
the pictures 2,3,4 and 5 reminder me some paintings of Egon Schiele.
Oh, that’s really interesting Antoino. I love his work but that never occurred to me. I suppose reminiscent in form and colour.
Cool that you would think that. 🙂
Love that 2nd one…excellent as ever Karen 🙂
Thank you very much Helen. 🙂
What a beautiful willow..it’s strange, this tree made me think of my Gran, she is 100 this year and I think more beautiful than ever..fragile in the outer body but still as strong at the root..
That’s a beautiful analogy Cath. Wisdom, age and grace.
More nice snow photos Karen. I am going against the grain and picking the last as my favourite. Snow should be here in the next few days, so we are ‘reliably’ informed. Though living on the coast, we tend to get less than inland. Here’s hoping anyway.
Oh well it will be interesting to see your pictures with snow! Your work is amazing David.
A snow canvas for natures art – this is great!
Glad you like it Fergiemoto! 🙂
Your pictures are always so beautiful. It makes me regret that I cannot be there and take them myself 🙂
Thank you Jan!
So beautiful…love how snow makes trees look. Great shots.
Hi Jason, thank you. I’m loving the snow as a backdrop this winter.
Beautiful
Thank you very much Allen.
You know Karen, stepping back a bit, you do have a wonderful compositional eye toward the combination of micro & macro shots. This something you often with where the combination of the two enhance both.
Its just neat! thx!
Hey thanks Al! 😀
Love the richness of the shade of brown in the tree contrasted against the whites and grays.
Winter is great for subtle monochromatic tones, thank you!
ooooh, love these. so beautiful ~ as always Karen! The second and third are my favourites. Doesn’t the third remind you of a little mitten, outstretched? Your photos have been a huge influence on me – I am actually starting to look forward to snow 🙂
Ha ha, I suppose it is a bit like a little fuzzy mitten. I hadn’t noticed that. 🙂
Thank you Marina, winters tough but the snow is beautiful, I think. And you have to work with what you have!
Hope you get more snow then!
The first shot took my breath away! The details and clarity of the macros are absolutely lovely!
Oh thank you Lemony!
That tree is so beautiful! Great series!
Thanks so much Sil!
The last picture is my favorite! I think it has more character and depth then the first one, but all are beautiful!
Once again, pure beauty. It’s impossible to choose a favorite. The cone flower, the stems with seedpods and the last willow come in ahead of the others by only the smallest, tiniest margin. I will never tire of your snow photos, but I’m also looking forward to following your world into spring, summer, autumn. 😉
Thank you Shez, I’m looking forward to other seasons too! I’m sure the snow pictures must be getting boring. 🙂
It is getting that I don’t know what to say any more, Karen, because I have said it all before and this post is no exception! So, I will just say Wow! AAAAH! Fantastic! Love them all!
Take care, Karen!
John
Hi John! Thank you very much and you know, I think it’s okay to not comment, 🙂
no one would be offended…
cheers John!

Oh Lord, managing your comments must be approaching a full time job! Here’s another one though, ’cause I’m cruel. Loved this set… the spiky with the soft…. the black with the white. Wonderful contrasts…. ❤
Thanks Moof! Yes it is rather time consuming, things are dying down a bit I think though… 🙂
Such beautiful, beautiful captures of contrasts. Just love the pictures – would love to be able to capture the light and the dark in the same way.
I’ve enjoyed all the winter ones. The snow is making a lovely canvas for the shadows, muted colors, textures, lines, shapes – all really so simple but hard to do it right.
Thank you Carla. I do love the potential of snow.
Sensitivity & beauty in each photo
Beautiful capture of a spectacular tree.
Thank you Micheal, it is a beautiful tree, I was wondering how old it was.
Love several photos in your blog but just pinned you weeping willow – there’s really something about that photo, as is apparent from all our reactions.:-)
The photos of the weeping willow are stunning, very very beautiful photos ! I am in awe looking at them ! I also love all the other photos.
Thank you, I am a weeping willow fan myself…
