The Melt (ice abstracts) March 19, 2016March 19, 2016 | drawandshoot Ice erosion, shoreline (a multiple exposure image). Ice erosion (immersed camera). I love the fluidity of these liminal spaces between winter and spring. The ice folding back from the shoreline exposing inky cold water, translucence and grit. There is much beauty in the rituals of the seasons. © Karen McRae, 2016 Share this:SharePinterestEmailTumblrFacebookTwitterLinkedInLike this:Like Loading... Related

These photos are just gorgeous!
Thank you! I’m still figuring out how to best use my little waterproof camera but it’s certainly fun to play with (albeit a bit cold on the hands).
And in your seeing of them. Thank you for these.
Thanks very much, Linda. Photographing the ice melt seems to be a spring ritual for me.
There certainly is…and you have a marvelous eye for seeing them. Nicely done, Karen.
Hi Scott, thank you. I do love this time of year for making photographs.
You’re welcome, Karen…it’s a wonderful time….

you’re welcome…. indeed the top one had me a bit green with envy, I REALLY liked it 🙂
So true. There is an awe surrounding transitions. So lovely.
You seem alwaysto capture nature the simplicity of nature quite naturally that most do not. You use your camera as an artist uses her brush, or a poet his muse.
Beautiful. Fluidity seems to be the theme of the day.
Mysterious and beautiful Karen. Very nice.
Very beautiful photos, Karen! I love how the colors are melting from one to other. 🙂
Brilliant! Love to see these in big size hanging in an exhibition, great art!
Elegant, refined and artistic photos as per always.
Así es, “hay muchísima belleza en los rituales de las Estaciones”. Me han gustado mucho estas imágenes.
Gorgeous abstracts. I especially like the first one. Such splendid shifts.
Holy fuck. Your vision.
These are so gorgeous, Karen. They are so easy to spend time in (I’d love to see them blown up really big), and I love the way they mess with scale.
I love how you capture the world 🙂 I try and do this but having to have control even with depth lol I try to focus lol
Absolutely love these, Karen – and esp so the multiple exposure image. Adrian
