Map-like surfaces scraped into the rocky shore. A rare rainy day here, not long ago. It seems as though the entire summer’s worth of rain fell on this one day.
I’m loving the black and white, Karen! It really draws my eye to the lines and texture… I love these mapped surfaces! The second photo is my favorite but I an found of them all… And I love how you’ve mapped a deeper surface as well… The macro surface world of those shells! Excellent work!
Wow! Stunning! Those lines do just look so like streets. I love the ‘out of context’ effect on my brain. Those shells are gorgeous too. B&W suits them.
It’s true that you can work with just about any kind of weather if you have the right protective gear! I love photographing in the snow and rain…
Thanks, Alessandro.
Just like maps, how interesting! A little like the map lines on the palms of our hands, they seem to be inherent in nature..there’s a lovely quality to these images too..beautiful Karen.
Rainy days are good for your pictures, Karen. Wonderful and dreamy.
Thank you, Bente!
Fantastic as usual. Love the mood evoked by the B&W tones.
It was a moody day for sure. Thank you, Wicker.
Hi Karen, where do you live? East Coast?
Ottawa! This is the Ottawa River…
I’ve run out of good adjectives
🙂

Thank you, Polly. These just seemed to want to be in black and white. I’m glad you agree it works.

Hi Trish, The lines are really cool aren’t they? Thanks for your comment.
Beautiful! Dreamy…
Marija, thank you!
I really, really like these Karen. The B&W works so well here. Beautifully done.
Thank you, Distan. Much appreciated.
The black and whites are amazing Karen.
Thanks very much, Shari!
Such wonderful scenes… Truly beautiful! Ethereal doesn’t cover it.
there are so many beautiful places along the shore. Thank you for your kind comment.
So very much like a map! Lovely.
Isn’t it though? Thank you, Elena.
I like your humor. To put the images one make us feel lost,
and the others make us smile. 🙂
Thanks, Yoshizen. Happy to bring a smile to you!
What a somber and beautiful mood…and those look slide marks from ancient glaciers’ passing….
It’s quite possible they are glacier marks, Scott. Thanks for the comment
You’re welcome.
Beautiful images!
Thank you, Chillbrook.
To the inspired, there is no such thing as ‘bad’ weather. Very peaceful images, just great. 🙂

Life lines for the river! Can you read them, Cath?
🙂
Lovely B&W pictures. You are the master of details.
That’s exceptionally kind of you, Lautal! Thank you.
Finally! Nature is getting with the straight lines program.
. . . I wonder if it’s evidence our ancestors played tic-tac-toe . . .
I was thinking it might have been a game of glacial chess…?
Your move!
The detail and lighting – oh, so lovely!!
What a beautiful post. The shots of the stone and the water look like the remnants of some ancient civilization.
Thanks very much, James. The shoreline here is interesting and diverse for sure. I like your interpretation.
Beautiful…great cloud photograph!
Thank you, Allen!
So much texture and lovely shades of grey.
I love this part of the shoreline, thank you, Howard!
Love the pictures of the shells. Simply exquisite.
Thanks very much, Nareen.
like the beginning of creation, mysterious and filled with awe.
I’m glad you find it looks that way. Thank you, Lisa.
nice set 🙂 I like the intimacy of the first shells image. We too had rain- 3 weeks worth in a few hours. Happening more and more.
Thanks, Karl. We have had mild drought for most of the summer – I guess the rain was saving up for a downpour!
well done Karen! It does look like the shoreline was part of an architect’s plan 🙂
Yes, some sort of careful drawing. Nature as draftsman…
Thank you, Marina.
