Karen, As someone who loves the many shades of blue (my wedding dress was sky blue with lace on top) these are just beautiful. What calming views. So glad your trip went well and that you got to shoot such lovely photos.
Love the low lighting and magical sunsets. So calming to view!! Were you using a neutral density filter? Once again, I’m in awe of your beautiful work! 🙂
Beautiful Karen. I’m particularly partial to the second shot; I like the steely tones. The blue tones are nice too. I’ve grown accustomed to a more subtle and limited colour palette owing to the recent winter.
I especially like Dusk2 and Fadingintoblue3, the quality of the water is great. I am suspecting they may be longer exposures, though I can’t tell for sure.
I will, thank you!
How long do you recommend the exposure to be? is the longer the better or does it depend on the desired effect related to the light?
It does depend on the amount of light and the effect you want, it’s fun to experiment with different exposures.
Example: The top image here was taken at the following settings: 5 sec exposure, f/18, ISO 100.
The second last exposure was a full 60 seconds, f/13, ISO 100.
Great images, they look like paintings.
Thank you very much!

Thank you, it’s always interesting to work in low light and use long exposures.
It is really great to have an artist living just above me.
I’m home now but I think I’ll be back! 🙂

Thanks so much.

I spent many early mornings watching the sun come up (and go down) such magic in those times of day. Thanks Lisa.

While showing serenity, you can show the demon and its power in the same time.

Hi Polly, I was using a neutral density filter with the first 3 images.
Have you experimented with one?
Thank you. 🙂

Thank you, Distan. The seasons sure shift the tones, I love how each season offers something different.

On the third photograph from the top there is a soft pink-ish orange reflection- well captured and subtly placed. Quite lovely.
I like it when people notice the subtitles, thank you!
Dusk 2 is simply incredible! the tones are just so breautiful, i wish i could photograph like that!
Thank you so much. These pictures were taken with the camera on a tripod using long exposures. You should give it a try! 🙂

Great series of images Karen. The last one with the trees in silhouette and the band of light reflected in the water is superb.
Simon, thank you. It was a gorgeous place to watch the sun go down.
The finale is one gorgeous blue. Beautifully captured (as always).
Thank you very much, Richard!
