I guess I’ve been all over the place lately with my work. I haven’t had too much time to walk the earth so I’ve been working with some constructed imagery.
It sort of feels like watching stringed balloons slip away.
Superb yet again, Karen. Your vision and artistry is just so wonderful. I’m curious, did you set out to create this? Was it through iterative experimentation? Borrowed inspiration? Something else? I’d love to hear how your artists’ mind worked for this image because you make me question my own abilities and hence limitations. It’s so great to see how your work is evolving. As well as being personally inspiring.
I did not set out to create this when I made the initial photographs, but I was trying to put together an image that expressed what I often think about – our relationship with the landscape from different perspectives. The good and bad, give and take, push and pull of living on the earth. So I tried layering images that might express that. Iterative is a good word! There is a lot of experimenting in the doing but I love the process. It sort of like painting in a different way.
Breathtaking imagery. I like both images placed together as a diptych.
Close to me because like the lone figure I walk on the littoral, breath the ozone at the coastal edge of the wild Southern Ocean (at the bottom of the world).
The moody nostalgia struck a chord.
What’s more compelling than the littoral zone? You are fortunate to be so close. Each time I stand at the ocean I think that is where I feel most alive.

My WP Reader has totally changed (and messed up) how I look at and comment on other’s blogs and it is now not just difficult but close to impossible. Not sure what the problem is but if you don’t see me around for a while until this hopefully gets fixed, that’s the reason. Sorry.

This is so startling and beautiful! It looks like Scotland, the scene is so familiar! And the joy and energy of the figure in it, you! So lovely! LBD or Little white dress … ? That is the question 🙂
I guess this would be just across the sea from Scotland! It’s a Cape Breton shoreline. Do you miss Scotland, Gigi?

Such a powerful image..I remember when you first posted part of this, I love how it has developed..it feels so very searching somehow, as if things are a little uncertain in the strong winds..but then the same feeling emanates from the figure as it did before by the open sea, it feels that there is some solidity there, and a sense of belonging, you are there on the ground..very interesting and thought provoking, my favourite kind of image – I like them a lot!!
