What a fantastic and beautiful range of images Karen. What camera do you use for most of your shooting if you don’t mind me asking? I’m looking to upgrade soon and am always curious to find out what others are using…
Hi Tom, sorry to be so long in replying. These were all made on a Nikon D7000, so not an expensive camera really, but I have some decent lenses. What camera are you using now? I’m hoping to upgrade to a full frame camera one of these days.
Thanks for your comment.
I use a Nikon D90 which is about 5 years old now, so I’m thinking of moving on. It’s been great and I love Nikon but I’m considering scaling down in size and weight – I have my eyes on the Fujifilm X-T1. It would be a large investment though…!
Yes, those mirrorless cameras are intriguing for several reasons! Switching to a different system and needing all new lenses could add up quickly for sure. If you make the switch I’d love to hear what you think.
I support your ode to water! Wonderful series, Karen.
It is the simplest but most powerful story of all – about life, and its continuing circle. All shown in spellbinding beauty. Thanks Karen for your light touch!
… such beauty… Your imagery is captivating once again… and I believe my vocabulary does not contain enough beauty and breathtaking descriptions to describe your work… ;0)
What a wide-ranging, exquisite gallery of water related images. I’m really taken by them all but today the lotus and fish grab me, and the third one down is so mysterious – I think it’s ice, but that warm green is so un-wintry.

Nobody shoots the delicate dance of nature as well as Karen McRae. Her deceptively simple photographs of the natural world around her home in rural Canada brings the beautiful complexity of life – to life. Well worth a visit to her site to view her extraordinary images of a world that we all too often take for the ordinary.
Water is indeed a very special element here on earth. And have captured some of its magic in these images. They are all very beautiful. And yes, they do tell part of the big story. Simply wonderful.

The fifth image down is incredibly intricate and delicate, Karen – certainly my favourite amongst this visual feast. Adrian
